CLICK : GridKings Lends A Lid To Peugeot Driver Bradley Philpot!
Close GK friend, Bradley Philpot secured a drive with Peugeot for the epic Nurburgring 24 hour race after a gruelling selection process that spanned Europe.
We are big Peugeot fans here at GK with the 205 GTI being a firm favourite of us all. When Bradley got in touch asking about helmets, we were quick to aid him in making sure he had a fully up to date lid complete with HANS posts ready to race. Step forward the Bell KF3.
We wish Bradley all the best at the race and just know he’ll be out to impress; and will!
CLICK : Alguersuari & Schumacher Return to Their Kart Roots
With the way that the chips have fallen with the F1 team rosters, former Toro Rosso F1 driver Jaime Alguersuari has signed up for a season of kart racing. It appears that Jaime will combine his continuing role as a Pirelli test driver with a seat in the KZ kart category of the European championship, stating:
“The truth is that I miss competition and so I will compete in what most resembles a Formula One car,” said the 22-year-old. “I don’t know if I will return to formula one but I don’t want to believe that my career is over at twenty two,”
Not the only one it seems as newly re-retired Michael Schumacher is returning to kart racing also, and will race in the WSK Euro Series race at Ialy’s La Conca circuit for Tony Kart.

CLICK : SK Motorsport Track Day a Success
As mentioned previously in our post about GridKings involvement with SK Motorsport HERE, the Snetterton track day (11th March 2012) went extremely well with everyone involved having an awesome time driving the SK Motorsport prepped, modified Volvo S60. Making trackdays accessible to disabled drivers is a great thing and something we are proud to be associated with. The Black Cat Helmets that we supplied went to good use with the intercoms making instruction easy. A big nod to Steve and team for such a great project. Check out some shots of the day below.

Anything that makes motorsport accessible to people who may otherwise not be able to get involved, is a great great thing.
SK Motorsport is doing amazing work in this field. SK Motorsport provides race car preparation and track side support services with founder, Steven Collett looking to further the concept of Accessible Motorsport. The Accessible Motorsport project is now off the ground and is being support by various organisations including David Butler, Chairman of British Motorsport Association for the Disabled.
GridKings is supporting SK Motorsport and has already provided intercom-ready track day helmets via Black Cat for future events; making the tuition and coaching of newbie drivers, that little bit easier.

CLICK : Autosport Show 2012
We were in attendance at the Autosport Show 2012 in Birmingham on Thursday the 12th, at the NEC. Great turnout and lots to see: a personal favourite was Senna’s old Kart, on show in the Senna tribute area. It was great catching up with people, such as Bradley Philpot, organiser of the BRKC - who had managed to set the fastest time on the Whilton Mill kart simulator and Amir Tabatabaei of MIS Testing.
Due to our schedule,we weren’t looking to be at the show this year and having just missed out on a spot in the Celebrity Karting race after a last minute request, we were forced to race the next best thing: the radio controlled Minis. A GK win ensued.
Some great stands in the engineering section and lots of exotic metal generally, the Noble M600 and SLS AMG being particular favourites. All in all, worth the trip and a nice start to the year.
CLICK : Lotus Renault’s Romain Grosjean: GP2 Overtakes
With the teams announcing their drivers for the 2012 F1 season, one of the big surprises has been Lotus Renault and their new driver line-up: Romain Grosjean and former F1 WDC Kimi Raikkonen; who returns after some time in the wilderness (literally) rallying. Romain is not new to F1 having raced in the 2009 season alongside Fernando Alonso but his pace that season was unimpressive and he returned to GP2 to find his feet. Now, in his own words; ‘a more complete driver’, many are tipping him to startle in 2012.
The new driver line-up at Lotus has meant that Russian Vitaly Petrov and Brazilian Bruno Senna are left looking for a seat for 2012. The Lotus Renault pairing is bound to make for one of the more interesting sub-plots to the 2012 F1 season. Below, a look at Romain in GP2… just to just to whet the appetite.
